Popcorn or ‘popping corn’ is corn (maize) which expands from the kernel and puffs up when heated. Corn is able to pop because, like sorghum, quinoa and millet, its kernels have a hard moisture-sealed hull and a dense starchy filling. This allows pressure to build inside the kernel until an explosive “pop” results. Some strains of corn are now cultivated specifically as popping corns.
There are many techniques for popping corn. Commercial large-scale popcorn machines were invented by Charles Cretors in the late 19th century. Many types of small-scale home methods for popping corn also exist, with the most popular in the USA being prepackaged. Popcorn has both advocates and detractors. Depending on how it’s prepared and cooked, some consider it to be a health food while others caution against it for a variety of reasons. Popcorn can also have non-food applications, ranging from holiday decorations to packaging materials.

The machine will produce up to 500 donuts per hour, enough for over 40 servings of twelve.
The machine can be set to produce just one portion of twelve mini donuts or a continuous supply.
As the machine is so portable and can be plugged into any normal electrical socket, it can be set up in either an existing cafe or restaurant, catering trailer, coffee bar or leisure facility. We also have a purpose built kiosk which we can supply for outside establishments.
The machine is simple to use. Oil (palm oil is the best) is tipped into the frying area of the machine, the machine is turned on to heat the oil. Next the donut mix is mixed up,
The donut mix is left to stand for 10 minutes, then it is poured into the hopper. When the oil is hot enough an audible alarm sounds, you are now ready to begin. You can choose to produce one potion of donuts (12 mini donuts) or a continuous supply. The hopper releases 4 donuts at a time. They plop into the hot oil and cook on one side to begin with, they travel down the oil channel until they are flipped over into the next section of the fryer where the other side are cooked. The machine is controlled by a micro processor which knows just how long to cook each side and when to start and stop. You can easily adjust the size of the donut by way of a screw type controller. The machine can produce up to 510 donuts an hour, around 40 servings of 12.
Once the donuts have travelled down the second channel of the fryer a second set of flippers flip out the mini donuts into a waiting tray. Here the vendor uses tongs to remove each donut and puts them into an appropriate serving carton. It’s up to the vendors what they serve the mini donuts with. We suggest either sugar, cinnamon or a topping. We serve the donuts in a purpose made cardboard carton which is easy to assemble and which is approved in the EU to serve food in.
At the end of the day or serving time the oil is left to cool down, then an oil syphon pump is used to remove the oil from the machine. The oil pump is supplied with the machine. The machine can then be easily taken apart to be cleaned then stored away.
We also supply donut mix to our vendors. Our donut mix is a high quality mix needing only water. It absorbs less oil than other mixes so the donuts taste lighter and fresher. We serve our donuts with a topping such as chocolate or strawberry. We are happy to supply you with donut mix, sauces and packaging, please see our full range.
I have had many people ask about the candy floss i make with the candy floss machines that i sell.
So here is a few details:
Candy floss (UK, Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa), Cotton candy (U.S. and Canada) or fairy floss (Australia) is a form of spun sugar. Since it is mostly air, servings are usually large.
Candy Floss is often served at fairgrounds or circuses. Food coloring is used to change the natural white color. A typical serving on a stick is at least one ounce and contains about 100 to 115 calories.
It is sometimes sold in bags containing several servings. Evans also sell it in airtight containers to increase shelf life.
